"This year, we will have all elected officials address the Finance Committee to get insight on how they will work within the framework of the recommended budget. We want to continue 'the theme of leaders working together' which is a continuation of our AAA Bond Rating and sound budgeting success," stated Oakland County Board Finance Chairman Thomas F. Middleton.
The nine member Finance Committee is led by Middleton (R), who serves as the finance chairperson, and includes Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub (R), who serves as the finance majority vice chairperson, and Commissioner David Woodward (D), who serves as the finance minority vice chairperson. The committee also consists of Commissioners Christine A. Long (R), John A. Scott (R), Kathy S. Crawford (R), Board Vice Chairperson Jeff Matis (R), Nancy L. Quarles (D) and Helaine M. Zack (D).
This committee oversees the county's more than $1/2 billion budget, in conjunction, with the full Board of Commissioners and the County Administration.
"This budget process is about as much about reflecting our shared community values as it is about making sure we pay the bills," said Woodward. "We will continue to make sure Oakland County is working to grow the middle class, protect our residents, create jobs, and fix our roads."
