Nominee enters into agreement to sell law firm to three partners
David Trott, the Republican nominee for Michigan's 11th Congressional District, announced today that he has entered into an agreement to sell his interest in Farmington Hills-based Trott & Trott PC, a real estate finance law firm, to his partners Jeffrey Raff, Marcy Ford, and Jeff Weisserman. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
"I have not played a substantive role in either the leadership or operations of the law firm for several years," said Trott. "Jeff Raff has been serving as managing partner since 2012. Marcy Ford chairs and leads the Trott Executive Committee. And, Jeff Weisserman, who joined the firm as general counsel in 2003, will continue in that capacity. The firm is in good hands with these strong leaders."
Trott, who won the Republican nomination for Michigan's 11th Congressional District last Tuesday, when he defeated one-term incumbent Kerry Bentivolio, plans to focus 100 percent of his attention on November's general election.
"Marcy, Jeff, and the entire Trott & Trott team wish David the very best," said Raff. "He is going to be a great congressman. And, I have no doubt that his contributions in Washington will have a substantial positive impact on both our state and our country."
Trott & Trott was founded in 1976 by David's father, Robert Trott. David joined the firm in 1985 after graduating from the University of Michigan and Duke University Law School.
