The Book Club of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, discussed “Blindfolds Off: Judges on How They Decide” by Joel Cohen on Tuesday, May 26, at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit. Taking part in the discussion were (left to right) Ryan Hampstead, Assistant U.S. Attorney Susan Gillooly, David Fink, Book Club Co- chair Andrew Doctoroff, Ken Gold, U.S. District Court Judge Avern Cohn, Geneva Halliday, Erica Fitzgerald, U.S. District Court Judge Marianne Battani, U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Stafford, Tim Devine, and U.S. Magistrate Judge Anthony Patti. The book “contains several in-depth interviews with sitting or former judges about how they engage in judicial decision-making and provides, what I at least think are, rare insights into those deliberations,” Doctoroff noted.
