Inn of Court year-end dinner

The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law's chapter of the American Inns of Court hosted its year-end dinner on Tuesday, May, 10, on campus. Among those attending were (left to right) Dan Bernard of Law Office of Daniel J. Bernard, James Howarth of Law Offices James C. Howarth, Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Lemisch, U.S. District Court Judge Laurie Michelson, Tom Cranmer of Miller Canfield, Detroit Mercy Law Dean Phyllis Crocker, Ven Johnson of Johnson Law PLC, and Detroit Mercy Law Prof. Gary Maveal.  Founded in 1984 by U.S. District Court Judge Julian A. Cook Jr. and Dean Bernard Dobranski, the Law School's Inn was the eleventh Inn of Court chartered by the American Inns of Court Foundation.  Modeled upon the Inns of Court of London, the Inn of Court involves judges and lawyers (“Masters of the Bench”) teaching advocacy, civility, and professionalism both to young lawyers (“Barristers”) and law students (“Pupils”).
