It was a “kickoff” that had nothing to do with the hoopla surrounding the Super Bowl. Instead, the Detroit Bar Barristers in cooperation with the Wayne County Circuit Court hosted a 2017 Law Day Kickoff Fund-raiser February 2 at the Detroit Beer Co. Proceeds from the event will be earmarked to defray expenses for the May 10 School Partnership Program Law Day in Detroit, according to attorney Kim Yourchock (second from right), president of the Detroit Barristers. Students from more than 15 high schools in Detroit are expected to participate in Law Day activities, which are designed to heighten interest in legal careers. Wayne County Circuit Court Chief Judge Robert Columbo Jr. (pictured center) was on hand for the Law Day Kickoff event and was joined by Detroit Barristers (left to right) Tiffany Ellis, Sarah Gale-Barbantini, and Bryce Rucker.
