The Oakland County Bar Association presented “A Snapshot of the Indigent Client in Oakland County” featuring Emily Calabrese (pictured) of Lakeshore Legal Aid on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills. The seminar presented an overview of poverty in Oakland County and the unique issues facing poor communities in metro Detroit. Topics of discussion included “The challenges of working with clients in poverty, including their expectations and how to address them,” “Client-centered advocacy,” and “Hot topics in indigent representation.”
