On Thursday, Feb. 28, students from Cranbrook Schools conducted a mock trial at the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac before Oakland County Probate Court Chief Judge Kathleen Ryan and retired Probate Court Judge Eugene A. Moore (pictured in center). This tradition of hosting a mock trial began 15 years ago with Moore and Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Nanci Grant. Moore still dons his judicial robe once a year, along with Ryan, to help make this event a success. Through this experience, students get the unique opportunity early in life to develop essential critical thinking skills in a formal courtroom setting, with the hope to inspire the next generation of legal counselors.
