The Federal Bar Association (FBA), Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, conducted the 2019 Wade Hampton McCree Jr. Award for the Advancement of Social Justice Luncheon on Friday, March 15, at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit. The keynote speaker for the event was U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (third from right). On hand to welcome Stabenow were (left to right) FBA Vice President Fred Herrmann, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise Page Hood, FBA Program Chair Jennifer Newby, James McCree, FBA Secretary Treasurer Dan Sharkey, FBA President Saura Sahu, and Susan Fairchild. This year’s award honored Kary L. Moss (not pictured) who joined the ACLU’s leadership team as the director of Affiliate Support and Nationwide Initiatives in 2018 after serving for twenty years as the executive director of the ACLU of Michigan.
