Levin Center at Wayne Law to present deputy secretary of defense

The Levin Center at Wayne State University Law School will present “A Conversation with Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen Hicks” on Monday, November 8, at 4 p.m. live online.

Hicks will discuss what Detroit means to the nation’s defense industrial base. She will look at how business and government can work together to drive innovation and enable the military to tackle climate change and other pressing issues.

Hicks is the 35th deputy secretary of defense. She was sworn into that office on February 9, 2021. In this role, Hicks serves as the chief operating officer of the U.S. Military in charge of day-to-day business across a nearly 3-million-person enterprise. Hicks is the highest-ranking woman in the history of the Department of Defense and the U.S. military.
