Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor Tricia Dare announced last week that she is a candidate for the Oakland County Circuit Court seat being vacated by Judge Rae Lee Chabot.
Dare is currently the chief of the Special Victims Unit (SVU) where she leads a staff of 10 in prosecuting cases involving victims with unique vulnerabilities. These cases include domestic violence, child and adult criminal sexual conduct, child abuse, elder and vulnerable adult abuse, and hate crimes. Dare’s unit also provides support and guidance to victims.
Dare is an award-winning assistant prosecutor with multiple commendations and citations, including the introductory Victim Distinction Award from the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.
“My legal career has been dedicated to protecting the most vulnerable among us. For me, improving access to justice isn’t a campaign slogan, it’s been my life’s work. As a judge, I’ll bring this same dedication to fairness, compassion, and impartiality to the bench,” Dare said.
Dare is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Dare also worked for Michigan Supreme Court Justice Dorothy Comstock Riley.
Dare lives in Oxford with her husband Perry, a retired sergeant with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. The Dares have been married for 19 years and have two daughters.
“I look forward to working hard to earn the trust and support of Oakland County voters,” Dare said.
