Law school's Muslim Law Students Association hosts first Ramadan Iftar

Students from Wayne State University Law School's Muslim Law Students Association (MLSA) hosted their First Annual Ramadan Iftar on April 14 at the Wayne State University's Student Center.

Organizers said the event was an opportunity for Muslims and non-Muslims to come together and celebrate the purpose of Ramadan.

The guest speakers included Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Yvonna Abraham, Wayne Law Associate Professor Khaled Beydoun, and Sayed Saleh Qazwini.

"Wayne Law is in the heart of Detroit, and we must not only have a diverse set of students, but students must feel welcomed and accepted," said MLSA President Kawkab El-Moussaoui. "We grow better when we support each other. We don't want to be tolerated, we must be accepted and treated as equals amongst our peers."

Event organizers included El-Moussaoui, MLSA Vice President of Student Affairs Devon Graham-Aiyash, and MLSA Incoming President Fatima Elzhenni.
