The Oakland County Bar Association will present “The Nuts and Bolts of the Juvenile Intake Process” as an online webinar on Thursday, August 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. via Zoom.
Attendees can join in for in-depth discussions of hot topics, emerging issues, and practice pointers in juvenile law. This webinar will cover the juvenile intake process in Oakland County.
Speakers Alexander K. Garthoff with Oakland County Circuit Court Family Division, Nichole Smithson, and Melinda N. Deel of Melinda N. Deel PLLC will focus on everything that occurs during the preliminary hearings and touch on preliminary inquiries. This seminar will provide practice pointers for newer attorneys practicing in juvenile and advanced tips for attorneys who have been practicing juvenile law for a while.
Topics of discussion will include:
• How to handle the initial meeting.
• Advising the client before the preliminary exam.
• Requests for testimony, placement, and visitation.
Credit has been approved with the Oakland County Bar Association for 1.5 Juvenile credits.
