Plunkett Cooney recently welcomed the members of its 2023 class of summer associates to the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office.

This year’s class includes law school students Regan Glenn and Sydney Jackson who attend the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and Evan Irvine from Wayne State University Law School.

Plunkett Cooney partners and associates will work with the summer associates in the areas of governmental law, insurance coverage, business transactions and labor and employment law. The 12-week program entails two six-week sessions during which program participants will receive hands-on experience with legal assignments along with opportunities to attend numerous professional organization and firm social events held throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. The program concludes on Aug. 18.

Glenn is scheduled to receive her law degree in 2024. She received her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2020 and 2021, respectively. While pursuing both degrees, Glenn received several academic and athletic scholarships, and she served as team captain of the school’s varsity softball team.

Set to receive his law degree in 2025, Irvine is a member of the Asian Pacific American and International law student associations. A 2017 graduate from Grand Valley State University, he spent three years in Tokyo, Japan, working as an assistant language teacher in the JET program of the Tokyo Board of Education. This is the country’s premier cultural exchange program that is run by three Japanese government ministries.

Rounding out the Class of 2023 is Jackson, who is scheduled to receive her law degree in 2024. She is a junior member of the school’s Moot Court and Law Review and a parliamentarian member of the Black Law Students Association. While in law school, she served as a summer intern for U.S. District Court Judge Gershwin A. Drain, Eastern District of Michigan. Jackson received her undergraduate degree in 2019, from the University of Michigan - Ross School of Business.
