'Virtual Visual Trial School' offered by PAAM
The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan (PAAM) will present "Virtual Visual Trial School-2020" on Monday and Tuesday, December 7-8, via Zoom.
This two-day course will focus on using PowerPoint and other technology effectively in preparation for trial, and in the courtroom. It will feature lectures and materials covering litigation technology strategies, best practices, advocacy/persuasion, screen capture, video redaction, the visual trial, using technology in vehicular homicide cases, and ethics. There will be several lab groups (at varying skill levels) for guided breakout sessions on Zoom. Presentations will examine the legal and technical issues related to litigation (remote and otherwise) during COVID-19.
PAAM will also demonstrate how to use Sanction litigation software, screen capture software, video redaction software (Camtasia), and audio redaction software (Audacity) in court or in preparation for trial. Sanction litigation software is a non-linear litigation software tool used by the Department of Justice, the International Criminal Tribunal, the Judge Advocate General, and state prosecutors nationwide to organize and present complicated cases to a jury.
There is a list of software that will be used during the course. Attendees should make sure they have all the necessary software installed on their laptops before the course. For any questions about software or course content, contact Patrick Muscat of the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office at pmuscat@waynecounty.com or 313-224-6643
There is no fee to attend this course. Registration is limited to 40 attendees. Deadline to register is Tuesday, December 1. To register, visit www.michiganprosecutor.org and click on "training."
For questions, contact Amy Gronowski at gronowskia@michigan.gov or 517-643-2114.
