Attorneys named to state boards by Gov. Whitmer

Four attorneys were reappointed to state boards by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on February 11.

Patricia Halm, of Haslett, has been reappointed as a judge on the Michigan Tax Tribunal. Halm holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Michigan State University and a Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Patricia Halm will be reappointed as a member at-large for a term commencing July 1, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2030. Halm will also be re-designated as Chair for a term commencing July 1, 2026, and expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.  

Tinamarie Pappas, of Ann Arbor, has been reappointed as a commissioner on the Michigan Employment Relations Commission. Pappas is also an attorney and owner of the Law Offices of Tinamarie Pappas and has been practicing in the field of labor law for more than 35 years. Pappas holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School. Pappas has served as chair of the Michigan Employment Relations Commission since 2021. Her reappointment is to represent Democrats for a term commencing July 1, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2029. Pappas will also be re-designated as Chair for a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.

George Wyatt III, of East Lansing, has been reappointed as a commissioner on the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Commission, where he has served since 2022. Previously, Wyatt was an administrative law judge for the State of Michigan and served as an appointed member and chair of the former Michigan Compensation Appellate Commission. Wyatt graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in history and earned his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University School of Law. Wyatt III will be reappointed for a term commencing August 1, 2026, and expiring July 31, 2030. 

Mikhail Albuseiri, of Plainfield Township, has been reappointed as a commissioner on the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Commission, where she has served since 2022. Albuseiri previously worked as an attorney with Bloom Sluggett, P.C. Albuseiri holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Pepperdine University, a Master of Arts in international relations from Boston University, a Master of Science in maritime management from the Maine Maritime Academy, and a Juris Doctor from the Michigan State University College of Law. Albuseiri will be reappointed for a term commencing August 1, 2026, and expiring July 31, 2030.
