The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan, Child Abuse Training Services (CATS) Program, and the Child Abuse Prosecution Resources (CAPR), in cooperation with the Prosecuting Attorneys Coordinating Council, Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS), and Governor's Task Force on Children's Justice (GTF), is pleased to present a Specialized Child Abuse Training seminar on the topic of the "Abusive Head Trauma." This training will be offered online via Zoom on Wednesday, April 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The "Medical Evaluation of AHT in Children" session will explore issues faced by child abuse and neglect professionals in cases of potential abusive head trauma (AHT). Dr. Vincent Palusci, NYU School of Medicine, will provide a brief history of the diagnosis, and medical findings will be discussed with case examples, strategies for investigation, and review of potential alternative diagnoses. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and to share their own case examples.

The "From the Legal Field" presentation will discuss legal topics surrounding AHT, understanding and implementing strategy, as well as tactics that prosecutors can use to present accurate medical testimony. This session will be presented by Daniel Hebel, assistant prosecuting attorney, Wayne County
